Kim Kardashian is pulling back the curtain on one of her most talked-about relationshipsโand the $2 million engagement ring that came with it. In the latest episode of The Kardashians, the reality star sat down with sister Khloรฉ Kardashian and celebrity jeweler Lorraine Schwartz to revisit her past engagement ringsโand dropped a bombshell about her short-lived marriage to Kris Humphries.
“I Bought ItโBut He Took It Back”
While flipping through her jewelry history, Kim revealed she still owns the 14-carat cushion-cut diamond from her first marriage to Damon Thomas. But when it came to Humphries’ 18-carat emerald-cut stunner, she admitted: “I didnโt keep that.”
The reason? Humphries demanded it back during their divorce.
“I was pregnant with [daughter] North [West], still married to him, and in order to divorce him, he said I had to give him the ring,” Kim explained.
Khloรฉ was quick to remind her: “But you bought it!”
“I did!” Kim confirmed. “He contributed a fifth [of the price].”
That means Kim footed 80% of the $2 million billโonly to hand it over when their 72-day marriage imploded in 2011.
From Kanyeโs Diamonds to Paris Robbery Heartbreak
Kimโs thirdโand most iconicโengagement ring came from Kanye West, who proposed in 2013 with a 15-carat cushion-cut diamond. She still owns that ring and plans to pass it down to their eldest daughter, North West.
But there was another showstopper: a 20-carat emerald-cut diamond that West gifted her during their marriage. Tragically, that ring was stolen in her terrifying 2016 Paris robbery, along with millions of dollarsโ worth of jewelry.
Regrets About the Humphries Split
Looking back on her whirlwind romance with Humphries, Kim has admitted she “handled it totally the wrong way.” During the Keeping Up With the Kardashians reunion in 2021, she confessed:
“I was so nervous to break up with someone, I fully broke up with him in the worst way.”
Now, years later, the ring saga adds another layer to one of pop cultureโs most infamous divorces. And while Schwartz joked that “sometimes itโs better to let go,” Kim couldnโt help but muse:
“I wouldโve loved a collection.”
Do you think Kim should have fought to keep the ring? Sound off in the comments!
